Question
Does the provider offer off-site (or at home) programs?
Answer
We have offered off-site programs to five students, and have arranged for many others to complete their Fast ForWord off site after six to eight weeks of the program at our clinic. Our off-site families live in Montana and northern Wyoming, usually more than two hours drive from Billings.
Generally, the students who begin at our clinic and complete their program at home live within an hour of Billings. They have already worked at our clinic for as much as eight weeks but who, in our judgment, need more time before finishing. It is often good for families to be able to finish up at home because it allows them more flexibility in their schedule to work on the Fast ForWord exercises. By that time, the students are working much more independently and need little or no coaching.
We strongly prefer to work with participants at our clinic. Although the Fast ForWord programs rely on the computer, the computer cannot substitute for the professional, or a well-trained monitor with a good background in behavior, motivation, learning differences, and language.
