QuestionHow does the provider help you decide whether Fast ForWord is right for you or your child? |
|
AnswerBefore charging any fees, we like to spend time visiting about the concerns that lead to the parent calling us. We want to go over any formal testing that has been done, look at any school records that might be relevant, and listen to the concerns expressed by the family. We will visit with you to get some idea of whether or not it is worth going forward with a formal assessment. There are many problems that Fast ForWord is not designed to help. We will not go forward with testing if we suspect that some other form of treatment will be more appropriate. If it seems to us that Fast ForWord might be appropriate, then we will proceed with the pre-testing. Another tool that you may find useful is a questionnaire to help you gauge your child's language abilities by identifying related behaviors. Scientific Learning has developed a series of questions that may help indicate if the child has a language problem. You choose one answer under each question to indicate how often the problem is exhibited in the child's daily life. You may find this questionnaire a useful tool to help you understand what your child is experiencing.
