Our Mission
The Learning Clinic provides diagnostic and therapeutic
services to individuals who have learning difficulties.
There can be many causes of learning difficulties. We have
broad experience in helping with most of these
conditions.
Our goal is to improve the life of each individual and
family seeking our service. We do this by treating each
individual and family with respect, and by providing clear
and honest understanding of their learning difficulties. We
will work with other professionals to secure the best
available treatments for individuals and families who come
to us.
The treatments we use are scientifically proven to be
effective. We do not recommend any treatment unless we have
reasonable faith, supported by facts, that it will help.

Our
History
We started The Learning Clinic in order to provide Fast
ForWord to children. Also, we planned to provide independent
educational evaluations, mainly to parents of school-aged
children. As soon as Mark Taylor became a certified Fast
ForWord provider in March 1997, we began receiving telephone
calls from as far away as Minnesota, from parents asking us
if we would work with their children. Mark was the first
certified provider in an area that included Montana,
Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and Idaho.
At the time, we wanted to be very careful in our
selection of clients. We did not want to begin with a client
we could not supervise directly, so we waited until someone
from the Billings area came forward. Even when potential
Billings clients inquired, we were very careful in our
selection, very strictly holding to the official
recommendations from Scientific Learning. As a result, we
turned away a number of potential clients, finally seeing
our first client in June 1997.
As providers around the country gathered more and more
experience with Fast ForWord, we came to realize that Fast
ForWord could help a wider range of people than we at first
thought. Today we would be much more likely to accept some
of the clients we turned away in 1997. For instance, we now
provide Fast ForWord or related programs to adolescents and
adults as well as children. We are still careful in our
selection, and we will not agree to work with someone if we
believe that our methods are unlikely to help them. We now
have much more experience in selecting clients.
Since our beginning, we have provided evaluation services
to adults as well as children. Evaluations have focused on
learning problems, with special reference to what their
problems mean on a personal level, including the
implications for higher education or employment.
The Learning Clinic, Inc. incorporated under subchapter C
in the State of Montana on May 7, 1997. Our principal
activity is to provide general educational services to the
public.

Our
Staff
Our staff consists of Rosanna Buehl, Ed.S., and Mark
Taylor, NCSP, LCPC.
Both are fully accredited school psychologists. We
consult with speech and language professionals,
neuropsychologists, and others as appropriate.
In addition, we have a couple of non-certified therapy
dogs who are available to play with participants during
their breaks. Argos is a German Shepherd dog and Russel is
an Australian Shepherd dog. Both have excellent
temperaments, love to play, and stay out of the way when
they are not needed. Naturally, if any of our visitors have
allergies or fears about dogs, Argos and Russel will stay in
their own room.
