Presentation to Montana Speech-Language and Hearing Association

1999 Convention, October 21-23, 1999

Learner Outcomes

The Fast ForWord family of computer and Internet-based programs is a revolutionary new way of addressing important needs of children who have language-based learning disabilities. An intensive series of adaptive, interactive exercises using acoustically processed speech and speech sounds, Fast ForWord stimulates rapid language skill development. Although controversial, Fast ForWord is well supported by research and theory.

Following this presentation, participants will be aware of:

  • The scientific background and field trial results validating the efficacy of Fast ForWord training for students with language and reading problems.
  • The selection of appropriate Fast ForWord candidates.
  • The look and feel of the actual training exercises, along with the skills each exercise addresses.
  • Where to go for further information about Fast ForWord.
